A message to Benton County Democrats -

The Democratic Party is home to progressives, moderates, independents and others who may not necessarily fit neatly into some category of political philosophy.  A key Democratic Party strength lies in its inclusivity. There are several core beliefs that tie our party together: Democrats believe that we're greater together than we are on our own—that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules.  The Democratic Party is focused on building an economy that lifts up all Americans, not just those at the top. That's why Democrats are working to make progress on issues like job creation, equal pay, education, health care, and clean energy.

At the national level, the Democratic Party is working on crafting the direction and message our party will carry forward into the elections of 2018 and 2020. The Missouri Democratic Party is conducting listening posts across the state to gather input into the development of the state’s platform.  We recognized Democrats nationally have experienced “a disconnect” with rural area voters.  As a result, Missouri is listening to rural voices and recognizes we are stronger when we represent all of “We the people”.

The Benton County Democratic club also includes progressives, moderates and those in-between, plus independents.  Our strength lies in our shared Democratic values.  Among those values are the following:

  • We believe in jobs that pay a living wage and in economic justice.
  • We want a fair and equitable progressive tax system where the wealthy pay their fair share.
  • We believe public schools should be well-funded and higher education be available and affordable for everyone.
  • We will work to make affordable health care also available to everyone.
  • We'll fight to make sure senior citizens are not denied the benefits that they worked so hard for all their lives.
  • We will strive to ensure the human and civil rights of all individuals are protected.

In Benton County, we are focused on recruiting, supporting and electing local Democratic candidates. As such, we encourage everyone to get out and vote, and to share with others this positive message.

Come Join Us!  We meet the third Wednesday of each month at the Warsaw Library 6 p.m.

We need to make our voices heard by calling or writing those officials and we can start with the following list. Please be courteous and brief, while remembering you’ll be talking with staffers.  Part of their job is to make sure an elected official’s constituents are heard.  Let’s make sure they hear from us!
